Know Your Dose – Understanding Cannabinoid Dosage

There’s no one size fits all approach to cannabinoid dosage, and no two people are the same!

Understanding the right CBD, CBG, CBN or any other cannabinoid dosage is one of the biggest issues facing new cannabis users. There’s no clear dosage because cannabinoid products offer such a wide variety of different strengths and types. It’s not like an aspirin where you know you should take one at regular intervals.

There is a very popular saying in the cannabis industry, and it’s still as valid now as it was when people first started saying it. Start low and slow. What does it mean, though?

It’s simple. Start off with the smallest recommended dose and spread it out as much as possible. Believe it or not, cannabinoid products aren’t about taking as much as you can as fast as you can. The whole point is to assist your endocannabinoid system (ECS) and restore balance by supplementing naturally produced endocannabinoids with cannabinoids.

In the following article, we’ll take a closer look at knowing your dose and why CBD, CBG, CBN or any other cannabinoid dosing may not be as simple as you believe.

Going Low and Slow – It Works!

It takes time for CBD and other cannabinoids to build up in your system. So, you can’t expect to take one dose of CBD oil or another cannabinoid product and see immediate results. It’s just not going to work that way.

An effective dosage of CBD, CBG, CBN or any other cannabinoid could range from as little as just one or two milligrams up to one hundred milligrams. If you have no experience with cannabis products, just remember go low and slow, treat dosing for each cannabinoid separately.

For example, unlike tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), CBD is non-intoxicating. What does this mean? It means that it isn’t going to get you high or “stoned”. Instead of taking one large dose, try starting with smaller doses and over time increase until you achieve your desired result.

One thing that you should avoid is rushing to increase your dosage or frequency. Instead, give your current dosage a few days or even a week before you think about increasing it. It takes time for cannabinoids to build up in your system.

All cannabis products have biphasic properties, which means that when you take high or low doses of the same compound, it can produce the opposite effect. When you have small doses, it typically stimulates, while higher doses sedate. So, taking a large amount of CBD could be costing you more money, while a smaller dose could be cheaper and just as effective.

Know Your Dose – Conclusion

Remember, when it comes to almost all cannabis products, including CBD, low and slow is the most effective way to begin your journey. No two people, or their needs, are the same and how one person reacts to CBD, CBG, CBN or any other cannabinoid may be completely different from someone else. Remember, it’s important to know your dose.
